Perth has been great blessed with a plethora of world-class artists from a multitude of excellent musical genres for the weekend. It started last night with Stevie Wonder and Taylor Swift, and will end with metal and punk festival Sound wave on Monday.
The biggest crowd is expected at Arena Joondalup tomorrow for the FutureMusic festival to see headliners New Order and Fatboy Slim. With 37,000 people expected, it has taken Big Day Out's mantle as the biggest festival on WA's music calendar.
Future Music promoter Brad Mellen said the big crowds expected showed the economic importance of the live music industry.In light of this year's watered-down Big Day Out and sluggish ticket sales for other events, Sound wave promoter AJ Maddah said the festival had flourished because of its "sense of community" and its distinct identity as a rock festival.
