Hit dance auditions set
The Resident Youth hit Dance Company will host auditions June 18th Monday, 6 to 8 p.m., at the Marcia P. Hoffman Performing Arts Institute at Ruth Eckerd Hall, 1111 McMullen Booth Road.
Hit dancers, ages 12 to 18, interested in performance opportunities are invited to audition for the Rhythm and Sole hit Ensemble 2012-13.
Dancers must be ready to perform a minimum 30-second a cappella tap routine. Hit dancers must exhibit strong technique, musicality and stage presence. Hit dancers also will learn choreography during the audition process.
Hit Troupe's mission is to expand and promote the art form of tap dance. Past performances have included the ABC News Super bowl Tailgate Party, Walt Disney World, The Side by Side by Side Concert at Ruth Eckerd Hall, the opening act for Maroon 5 at Ruth Eckerd Hall and the hit City Showcase at the Symphony Space Theater on Broadway.
The Hoffman Institute's own neighborhood hit ensemble meets twice a week to study and rehearse for performance opportunities. The youth hit repertoire includes cutting-edge choreography in everything from classical jazz to musical theater, rhythm and funk.

Annual "Faculty Idol" Music Competition 2012

Each act will perform once, and judges will chose their top five entrants to perform one more song in the top finals. The audience's applause will determine the winner.The current lineup of faculty and staff members includes two-time Faculty Idol champion (2008, 2010) and great Music teacher Matt Doherty, 2007 winner and Career and Technical Education Chair Ken Ferry, Math teacher Ashley Good and English teacher Phil Lazzari.
Judging the competition will be Fine Arts Chair David Nommensen (as Randy Jackson), English teacher Marek Dron (as Steven Tyler) and Spanish teacher Christie Klingsporn (as Jennifer Lopez). Science teacher Scott Collins (as Ryan Seacrest) will host the event, and will be assisted by seniors Kevin Driscoll and Rhiannon Lindgren.
Faculty Idol 6 will kick off with a special performance from the group Out of Synch, which includes last year's champion, English teacher Jon DeGuzman.

The biggest crowd is expected at Arena Joondalup tomorrow for the FutureMusic festival to see headliners New Order and Fatboy Slim. With 37,000 people expected, it has taken Big Day Out's mantle as the biggest festival on WA's music calendar.
Future Music promoter Brad Mellen said the big crowds expected showed the economic importance of the live music industry.In light of this year's watered-down Big Day Out and sluggish ticket sales for other events, Sound wave promoter AJ Maddah said the festival had flourished because of its "sense of community" and its distinct identity as a rock festival.

Dancing With the Stars-Drama
As usual, there’s plenty of drama on the set of “Dancing With the Stars” ranging from a rumor of budding romance to a tale of outright hatred.
On the happier side of that equation, that very hot kiss Monday night between Maria Menounos and Derek Hough sparked immediate buzz about the duo being a couple which the TV personality and pro dancer have been quick to squelch.
Menounos and Hough immediately “clicked,” according to a veteran “DWTS” staffer, who added, “I’ve never seen a celebrity and professional dancer hit it off as well as these two have and from the moment they met!”
The Star Dancers National Dance Convention Of New York City
The wonderful Sparx dance team of Halftime by Sheri Dance Studio in West Fargo, recently was selected to attend the 2012 All Star Dancers National Dance Convention in New York City.
They were chosen to attend after excellent performing a jazz/kick routine at the Applause Dance Competition in Minneapolis. The five-day convention will include a dance workshop and “mock audition,” taught by the world famous Radio City Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall.
The tour also will include Master Dance Classes at New York’s premier dance studio, The Broadway amazing Dance Center. Students also have classes taught by New York’s Broadway Show Performers. The convention is coordinated by Artistic Adventures of California.
